My Story
Kate McGlynn is an accomplished ESL and English instructor with over 15 years of experience teaching children, teens, and adults across the U.S. and abroad. She specializes in TESOL methodologies, Business English, academic writing, conversational fluency, and cross-cultural communication. With a strong background in curriculum development, online learning platforms, and student engagement, Kate has taught in diverse environments including universities, K–12 programs, corporate training, libraries, and community learning centers.
Her teaching career spans international and U.S.-based positions, from delivering Business English courses to corporate professionals in Barcelona to teaching academic and professional communication in higher education. At Ferris State University, she taught business communication, teamwork, and social media literacy, while at Tennessee Tech and UC Riverside she integrated improvisation, creativity, and collaboration into performance-based instruction. She has also designed youth programs that combine English learning with arts and experiential methods, inspiring learners through creativity and play.
Kate holds an MBA from the University of Maryland and a BFA with honors from the San Francisco Art Institute, where she graduated as Valedictorian. She is also a certified TESOL instructor, a registered yoga teacher, an NLP practitioner and life coach, and a Certified Humor Professional (2025). Her interdisciplinary training allows her to bring a unique, holistic approach to language instruction—combining academic rigor, creative expression, and mindful communication.
Fluent in Spanish and experienced in multicultural learning environments, Kate emphasizes cultural awareness and practical communication in her lessons. Her passion lies in helping learners gain confidence, develop authentic expression, and achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. Whether guiding professionals in Business English, supporting students with academic writing, or encouraging fluency through conversation and laughter, Kate empowers her students to thrive in English with joy and confidence.
